Parking ban in streets clogged by Birmingham Airport passengers

Birmingham Airport parking passengers park their cars outside nearby homes for days in order to avoid the parking fees
are now facing a new crackdown. Solihull Council has made proposals to restrict parking in
and around the village to handle the traffic situations in the street.
If approved, travelers will face a fine if they park between 10 am and 11 am and between 2 pm
and 3 pm from Monday to Friday. However, the rule of time may follow on the weekends as well.

These parking orders might affect Elmdon Lane, Elmdon Road, The Greenway, and Hall
Drive will also be included in the changes. It has been reported multiple times how
Birmingham Airport passengers were leaving their vehicles on residential roads for days
or even weeks to dodge the airport parking fees.
Local people also demanded commuters using Marston Green railway station added to
the congestion on local streets by parking up 24/7.
One of the local people told how he often heard taxis pulling up at around 5.30am
to collect holidaymakers after they had parked up. People have also seen multiple
time in a day the passengers who unload their luggage from their cars before
jumping into the taxi which in general an absolute murder on the road for parking.

On the Marston Green Facebook group, some people strongly condemn the parking plans.

Philip Mills who was one of the members of this facebook group posted: "Every day a
decision is made that makes me want to move from Marston Green.

Steven Clews wrote: "What if you're having work done? This in effect means Virgin,
builders, plumbers, couriers, etc, can't stop within the given times outside your property?"
In the end, people have remarks for the travelers that If there isn’t enough ‘free’
parking for the train station then drive 2 mins down the road to Birmingham International
, you’ll be guaranteed parking space for a small fee and Park at Birmingham.
